Museum of the San Ramon Valley
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley was founded in 1985 to preserve and present the valley’s rich history. There are exhibits, tours, archival collections, and special programs designed for students and the general public. The emphasis is on how humans were influenced by the valley, its geography, interactions with other peoples, and the affects of migration and settlements. The museum itself is a fine example of a historic landmark. It is on the site of the old 1891 Southern Pacific Depot, at Railroad and Prospect Avenues.
A permanent exhibit displays artifacts and photographs at the museum. Other activities include guided tours of Alamo Cemetery and through historic Danville.
San Ramon Performing Arts
In neighboring San Ramon the San Ramon Performing Arts center is a performing arts venue that visitors will enjoy. San Ramon Performing Arts presents a variety of community and world-renowned performances including taiko, singers, symphony, improv, children’s plays, bands, seasonal plays, musicals, and much more.
There are two theatres: Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center, 10550 Albion Road, San Ramon, and Front Row Theater at 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon.
There are also many live events all year in neighboring cities. These include the Livermore Valley Opera in Livermore, and the summer Shakespeare Festival that is held in July and August, also in Livermore.
